This is used as a logging tool. It consists of a four foot long round wood handle with a movable metal hook on the end known as a “dog”. It is has been used for over 160 years for lifting, turning. prying and moving logs. In 1858, Joseph Peavey, a blacksmith in Stillwater, Maine made some improvements on the original design. All loggers have been using it ever since.
